To help improve the targeting, and measure the effectiveness of online and email advertising, it is common practice for retailers to share hashed purchase information with online advertising platforms (eg. Google, social media, etc.) about both online and in-store purchases. Hashing is a process where any personal information, such as email address, is transformed into a new and unique set of characters to maintain your privacy. This allows the retailer to stop presenting you with online advertising for an item you’ve already purchased, measure the effectiveness of their online advertising, and display advertising for the same or similar products to others who have similar online interests.
The Source may share limited purchase information with 3rd party advertising analytics platforms, for the purposes stated above. This information can include hashed:
- Email address
- Phone number (where available)
In combination with a hashed:
- Date of purchase
- Approx. location of purchase (at a postal code level)
- Purchase value
- Website & email engagement
used for the sole purpose of matching your purchase information from The Source with your online profile as maintained by the 3rd party advertising platform.
